    講  題：Measuring diagnostic power of variables when the gold standard is continuous.

摘   要

The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and its derivatives are commonly used as measures of diagnostic powers of variables/classifiers. It is applicable when there is a binary gold standard which can be used to divide the population into two classes. However, for some diagnostic/classification problems, the gold standard is continuous, and thus these classical ROC types of measures cannot be applied. In this talk, we will discuss some possible extensions of the area under ROC curve type of measure for such kinds of problems. Moreover, it is known that the ensemble of classifiers will usually perform better than its individual members.  Thus, when there are many variables/classifiers of interest, we develop some algorithms to find the optimal linear combination of variables which can achieves the maximum of the new performance measures.
